Midfielder Daniele De Rossi is excited by the prospects of a new era at Roma, having pledged his future to the Serie A club by signing a new five-year contract.
The 28-year-old Italy international was heavily linked with a move to England during the January transfer window, but has opted to commit his long-term future to his hometown club.

I don’t think it is a secret that I spoke to other clubs, a few chats did take place.

However, De Rossi has admitted to being tempted to try his luck elsewhere, with both Manchester City and Manchester United having been credited with an interest in the schemer.
"I thought of many things, of alternatives and I spoke to many people during this time," De Rossi told reporters.
"There was also the thought of ambition, the idea of playing somewhere else, to face the top teams in the world - not that we don't have that possibility here.

Roma enjoyed a superb 4-0 victory over Inter Milan at the weekend, with De Rossi and co currently in sixth place in the Serie A table and battling to qualify for Europe next season.
Juventus head the standings by a point from AC Milan, with Juve 1.00 to win Lo Scudetto and the Rossoneri 3.25 to retain the crown they won last term.
