Heavy defeat embarrasses Lavicka

After watching his side get outplayed in the 5-2 defeat to Newcastle Jets on Sunday, Sydney FC manager Vitezslav Lavicka lashed out at his team's defensive efforts and branded them “embarrassing.”
The Sky Blues defence conceded three goals in the first period and just when their second half resurgence was on the verge of paying off, they let in two more goals to complete their miserable night.
Sydney FC are 2.37 to defeat Perth Glory, who themselves are 2.90 to get the win. A draw between the two sides can be backed at 3.40.
The result was one of the most embarrassing home defeats of Sydney FC's history and it upset Lavicka a great deal.
"I have to say how we defended as a team, especially the first half, was embarrassing. Before the game we knew how important this game was for us and our opponents as well. It's a big disappointment," Lavicka said.
Sydney captain Terry McFlynn didn't attempt at making any excuses and openly admitted that their performance was extremely poor.

"It really hurts to be honest. To go in 3-0 down at home, embarrassing is the word we used at half-time. You should never be 3-0 down at home. You talk about character and pride and playing for each other and playing for the shirt," McFlynn said.
However, the Sky Blues skipper believes that his team needs to move on from the mess quickly and focus on their upcoming games.
"We can't let it damage us too much psychologically. We've got a big game next Saturday night against Perth and we've got to get it right. I think we can turn it around," McFlynn added.
